Chris Hutcheson, Owner
Coach Hutcheson recently coached baseball with Chipola College. In his first year with the Indians, Chipola won the Panhandle Conference Championship, the FCSAA State Championship and went to the JUCO World Series. Hutcheson began his coaching career at Okaloosa-Walton Community College as a volunteer assistant in 1994 where he assisted the Raiders to two Panhandle Conference Championships. In 1997 Coach Hutcheson transferred to Jefferson Davis Community College, where he assisted the Warhawks in winning 5 conference championships, 2 State Championships and made 2 trips to the JUCO World Series, winning the National Championship in 1998. He transferred to Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in 2002 and assisted the Saints in winning 5 Conference Championships, 2 State Championships and made 2 trips to the JUCO World Series, finishing runner-up in 2004. Over the past 23 years Coach Hutcheson has been an Associate Scout for Major League Baseball - scouting for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers, Washington Nationals and currently the Houston Astros. Coach Hutcheson led Team Alabama against Team Canada and Team USA, and has worked numerous camps over the years at LSU, Auburn University, University of Alabama, Miami and many others. He has coached 14 players that went on to play Major League Baseball, along with numerous Minor League players and countless players that have advanced on to play college baseball. Coach Hutcheson also currently scouts, signs and trains numerous elite athletes from the Carribean Islands.
Palmer is a 2012 graduate of Cook High School in Adele, GA. During his high school career, Palmer earned many awards: 2 time recipient of Region Pitcher of the Year, Under Armour All American, Louisville Slugger All American, GA All-State Team 2012, 4-year Varsity letterman, State Runner-Up 2010, Offensive POY 2011, and was 4 years All-Region.
Palmer signed with the University of Georgia in 2012 where he saw action as a closer in SEC play. He made notable appearances against Alabama, Clemson, and Texas A&M.
In 2013, he transferred to Chipola College where he became the Panhandle Conference Championship closer/long reliever. Palmer was drafted in 2014 by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He spent time in his Pro career with the Pittsburg Pirates, Texas Airhogs (American Association), and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
As a Cook High Hornet standout, DJ led the Hornets to a State Runner-up finish in 2010. He was also named Louisville Slugger All American in 2010, 1AA Pitcher of the Year in 2009 and 2010, and Team Georgia Champion 2009.
DJ signed to play his college career with the Mercer Bears. While with the Bears, he was a John Olerud Award Finalist in 2011 (awarded to the best two way player in NCAA). He was 2 time Player of the Month and 2 time Conference Champion (Atlantic Sun 2013, Southern Conference 2015).
Johnson was drafted by the New York Mets in the 2010 MLB draft.
Michael Mader, Guest Coach
Michael Mader is a LHP with the Atlanta Braves Baseball organization. He was traded from Miami to Atlanta in 2016 and is the future of the Atlanta Braves Baseball Club. Michael has tremedous baseball perspective and brings great experience, knowledge and personality to our players when he instructs during the off season. Michael is a local star that graduated from Marianna High School where he was a starting pitcher for the Bulldogs. After High School he signed with Chipola College and was drafted in the 3rd round by the Miami Marlins.
